Imagine if you were really good at something, but you were also good at another thing that no one knew you were good at. Like, say you were a professional skateboarder, but you were also a brilliant photographer and no one knew it. It'd suck. You'd hate it. You'd want folks to know you're a kick-ass photographer, right? That’s exactly why we put together this photo show.
In the Wauters Farm installment of their Changing Landscapes series, Los Angeles based art collective ARTHUR KING travels to a small family farm in rural Iowa in order to gather audio and video field recordings and reuse them creatively in a large-scale, improvisational visual art and music performance within the same setting. These musical and visual experiments incorporate an artistic methodology that aims to create a deeper connection to our surroundings and ourselves.
J-E-T-S (Jimmy Edgar & Machinedrum) present the world premiere of their debut album, ZOOSPA. This will be an interactive and audience participation event where ZOOSPA specialist Dinah Rankin (starring in the video for J-E-T-S “PLAY”) will guide us through the experience of the album.
Share this moment of reality with us as we create a relaxing, aural treatment for you to be the very first audience to listen to ZOOSPA. Guests early at the door will receive a personal invitation from our lovely host Dinah to partake in the ZOOSPA treatment to receive an exclusive gift from J-E-T-S.
After listening to the album, we will be celebrating this momentous occasion with an exclusive DJ set featuring J-E-T-S and special guests!
Enjoy an evening celebrating the vivid wonder of California Golde, a docu about riding bikes in California and all the hardships that come with big, hard, ambitious tours. The warm fuzz of a technicolor California summer captured with Kodak super 8 from the saddle of touring bicycles. Set amidst the bittersweet backdrop of a smoky Sequoia National Forest, California Golde conceptually spins a psychedelic yarn of analog exploration and recreation in the digital age, within the thralls of the deadly 2018 fire season.
Meet at the Golden Saddle in Silver Lake at 6 PM for a hazy LA sunset group roll on two or three or four-wheel bicycles to the 1700 Naud Gallery where the viewing fun will commence. If you're a fan of biking but it isn't your preferred mode of transportation, join the squad at 1700 Naud starting at 8p for the screening and a good old dance party.
Hope to see you and all your pals!
